Hysterical if you find racism funny.

I see the humor in this however, if these were Christian parents going off on how they can't believe thier daughter was dating a Jew, would people be laughing or screaming anti-semitism? Why is bigotry okay for some groups of people? Just wondering.

As funny as it is, I feel sorry for Julie having manipulative and intolerant parents like that. If she ever fell in love with a guy who happens to be not jewish this will seem a lot less funny. It is kinda the jewish version of the white pride trailer family...

I did not find this funny at all. They are so religious but he cursed 45 times during the phone tap. The guy sounded like he was a gangster and he sounded more like a degenerate than anything I ever heard. KOSHER what a joke. It proved my suspicions all along. They hate us but yet they want us pork and non kosher people to save there asses in the middle east. They should all go pray they we don't shove pork down there hypocritical throats. YOU don't know who I know!!!!

FYI. To all you lovely Italians, this crazy dad and probably the rest of the Jewish world aren't anti Italian on any level (or really any other Non-jewish ethnicity) We are neurotic that there are only a relatviely small number of Jews in this world, and from our history we know one thing is certain: intermarraige guarantees the end to the one thing we feel is sacred, that is, our religious connection to Seinfeld, Woody Allen and Jon Stewart. That would unarguably be a travesty. 

Although Sly Stallone, Ray Ramano and Al Pacino wouldn't be a terrible trade off.

How can this be a joke? You like people treating you differently because you are hispanic? How absurd for parents to only care about their selfish ideas instead of at least getting to know the guy. What if he treats the daughter well and is a good person, how could this not be more important than his religion? Wonder if the parents would prefer an abusive jewish boyfriend over a caring, say, Italian (I am not Italian just in case anybody wonders...lol) boyfriend?

The only reason it is funny is because the parents are so ridiculous. Reminds me of some documentary when they were showing trailer kids dance on a swastika in the kitchen (anybody remember which one that was?). Yeah, just as bright and great parenting there.

Even more concerning is that most people here feel this is not racism. How can it not be racism? If I said I don't want any (insert your ethnic group here) friends because they are dirty (not kosher), how would you feel? What if a member of the opposite sex would say that to you? Those "parents" should be ashamed, however, I think in their little self-righteous world they feel perfectly right. One can only hope that Julie will decide to go away for college and get some separation between her and her parents who enjoy their celebrity status as bad examples for improving tolerance and acceptance among people.

Wow, you guys are taking this so out of hand. Religion is something very very important to everyone practicing it. You all know very well that if you were highly religious, and the tables were turned, the outcome would be extremely similar. Whoever is writing these negative comments, obviously are not 100% keeping to their faith, no matter what religion you are,  therefore, of course, they would not understand.

It is their right to express their opinion about whether or not they want their daughter to go out with a Jew or not, so what right do you people have to judge these parents anyways? Do you know them personally? My best guess, is NO.

What it seems like is that all of you people had some form of intolerance towards Jews, before this phone tap began. And now this "justifies" your feelings. Come on, You guys are just unbelievable. This was great! but like one of the other comments mentioned if the situation was reversed jews would be calling in complaining anti-semitism. Or if it was a white father not wanting his daughter  dating an african-american, I am sure somebody would have alot to say about that too. first of all, don't judge a father by the language that comes out of his mouth when he's seriously pissed (not to mention freaked out and in total shock).     

second of all, regarding intermarriage/interdating: it is a real, serious issue for Jews and you may think it's stupid but how about believing that mary was really impregnated by god?  do you actually have any proof of that happening?  and please, isn't it more likely that she was just a creative girl in a bit of a jam?

jews live their religion.  the religious ones study it, debate it, and analyze it constantly.  in fact, the debate is much too complicated and involved to get into while posting a comment on bangitout.com, so suffice it to say that we take our religion very seriously.  it is the center of our lives.  if you haven't spent your life surrounded by religious values, you can't possibly understand, but julie clearly did, and played her parents like a *********.

let us explain the difference between that and racism.  we do not hate people of other races or religions.  we do not want to wipe them from the face of the earth, or convert everyone in the world to judaism, by torture, brainwashing, or any other method.  if someone becomes interested in understanding judaism and chooses of his (or her) own free will to convert, we give him (or her) a really hard time to make sure that he (or she) is sincere and them welcome him (or her) gladly into all the responsibility and prejudice that it means to be a jew (and if you don't think that jews have a right to say that we've been persecuted - you freaking ignorant racist, check out 2000 years of pogroms, inquisitions, the holocaust...want me to keep going?  ever heard of the intifada?)

This is funny to someone who hasnt gone thru somethin like that. I dated a Jewish girl and when her parents found out about me being italian they fuckin flipped and almost kicked their own daughter out of their house.  This is one sick world we live in.....by the way, Italians are the hottest frickin people on the planet. they are warm, loving, goodlooking, and smart. It all depends on how you define racism. I don't think it is a bad thing per se to want to preserve a race in the same way as we would want to preserve species of the animal kingdom.

I agree with some of the people here who say it that devout people of other religions may react similarly, but there is a distinction between Judaism and Islam (say) in that Islam is universal whereas some Jews  believe they as a "race" are chosen as special in some way and I think this has had unfortunate consequences.

There is also many levels to how "traditional" a jew is.  Orthodox, reformist and conservatives.  Orthodox, for example, are far more likely to act like that father when they are angry.  Infact, I don't blame him at all for cursing.  Heck, I've heard cursing inside my own synagogues and churches that I have been in.  Yes, church... don't judge me for it.  Orthodox jews are very very adherant to the very core of judaism.  Nothing would persuade them not to take the Sabbath.  They pray multiple times a day and study the texts and instruct their families.  Conservatives are alittle less stringent and reformists are the most liberal.

However, I would like to say that there is a fourth division, one that the above three would deny because they do not believe they are judaic any longer.  Messianic jews, or Hissidics ( excuse my bad spelling )  I am one, as you might have seen from the comment about church.  I am extremely liberal and my mother told me she'd actually prefer me to date a christian over a jew....however, I myself wouldn't care who I'd date as long as we were happy and we both respected our own faiths and she would let me practice mine while she practiced hers...and I have proved that in the past.

Please don't be angry at the parents in this tap, they reacted the best way they could react given the situation....but they don't remember that the blood goes from mother to son, not father to son and blood does not mix.  The child would be Jewish.  I am jewish, and my father was Catholic.

PS: My own personal beliefs actually have me hating nearly all catholic faiths while if I chose a Protestant faith, I would go with Mennonite if there was no Messianic Synagogue nearby.

It's funny watching the Jews spin this. Of course the parents are racist scum. They showed their true colors. What they said wasn't a joke. The voice recording was sad and shows the level of racism.  The real jokes are some of the comments though...like this joke:

I am Irish and Catholic much like the stereotype and I grew up with narrow minded, ignorant people telling me that to date a Protestant was a crime against the Church but also against the country....my parents (unlike the bigots we just heard here) gave me their full support in whomever I chose to be involved with, be they Hindu, Muslim, African-American, Latino or yes even English. As long as I was happy and I was treated right then they were happy!!

I am not surprised at the overt hate and potty mouth heard here. Look at the history , fighting for years with people that are so much like them that the rest of the world can't tell a Jew from a Palestinian or a German or a Rasta.  Even in my town they are building a Jewish state. ie warehousing thousands of apartments in Bed Stuy, trying to take over the schools in Clinton Hills, using up all the resources (welfare, medicaid, food banks, tax free everything).  Once a hasidic jew asked me to show him my breast for two dozen T-shirts on Delancy St. in a T-shirt wholesale place. A rabbinical pig! They say never again, others say why not.  So what is the world going to do about these sick individuals that continue to polute the earth with filth and wickedness?  Congratulation Z100, do it again, and again until they are exposed to the world.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the child of a Jewish woman, a jew, irregardless of the faith or nationality of the father? Also, for those that claim that this isn't racism but merely maintaing their faith, how did we end up with Jewish communities in China, Ethiopia and representing just about every race in Asia, Europe and Africa.

If intermarriage didn't dilute the jewish identities of diaspora communities in Ethiopia, how can Jews in America be worried? IMHO this "fear" is simply being used to justify this racism
