The Talmud states that 24,000 of Rabbi Akiva's students died from a mysterious divine-sent plague because they did not show proper respect to one another. On Lag, meaning 33rd day, the plague stopped. So now every Lag B'omer, we show our love for our fellow brothers and sisters in this world, reversing the sin of Rabbi Akiva's students, by celebrating with all our hearts and, for those who drink, our livers. God is giving us a day to celebrate our greatest gift: each other, and we are takin' advantage.
A portion of the proceeds will go to charity - an awesome thing to do (segula) on this special day in Jewish History.
Details below. Hope to see you there!
