What can a human do when faced with destruction? Why does God flood the world, but save Noah and the inhabitants of his ark? How does the post-flood world compare to the original creation? We will look for answers to these questions and more through close reading of the story in Genesis, as well as rabbinic, medieval, modern, and contemporary commentators.
