Hello everyone! Do you have a young one who is eager to learn about Judaism? Are you in search of a progressive, unaffiliated synagogue that will provide a Hebrew School program for your children, Shabbat and High Holy Day services for you, and a place for your teens’ B’nai Mitzvahs? Look no further. The New Shul is the place for you and your family.

We are a West Village based synagogue. We hold High Holy Days services and B’nai Mitzvahs at Village Community School (272 W 10th St.), and Kabbalat Shabbat services and Hebrew School classes at Grace Church School (86 4th Ave. between 10th and 11th streets).

Why do you want to enroll your kids in our Young Learners’ Program?

For starters:
– Because we empower them to explore their Jewish identity with zero judgments or expectations, other than to be themselves.
– They’re learning and practicing Jewish customs and values in a relevant way.
– It’s a lot more fun than when we went to school.
Examples of Awesome from our Young Learners:
Naomi: “We stand here today to learn Hebrew because that’s what we love!”
Leilani: “Can we sing Hamilton completely in Hebrew?”
Eliana (teacher): “YES!”
Our incredible team of teachers – most of whom are artists as well as Jewish learning educators – empower our students to freely explore, express and question.
