OUR TURN: Women Leading Academia
Rutgers University-Newark | University of Pennsylvania | Amherst College | Brown University
Tuesday, October 13 @ 8:15 pm at the 92Y
Did you know that women have assumed the presidency of many of America’s most important universities and colleges? No longer leading female-only institutions, half of the Ivy League is led by women, as are many of the elite liberal arts colleges and giant public systems as well.
As part of the 92nd Street Y’s American Conversation Series, award-winning journalist Lisa Birnbach sits down with Nancy Cantor (chancellor of Rutgers University – Newark), Amy Gutmann, (president of the University of Pennsylvania), Biddy Martin (president of Amherst College), and Christina Paxson (president of Brown University) to discuss the paths that lead them to their positions, balancing their distinguished careers with family, the challenges they face in this era of overwhelming college costs and the specter of online education.
This lecture is endowed by Claire B. and Lawrence A. Benenson in memory of their son, Harold Berger Benenson.
