8:00 pm - 9:30 pm
In a previous life, the biblical scholar James Kugel was something of a poet, poetry editor of Harper’s Magazine and a student of the poetry in Tanakh. (In this sense, he was a bit like “Judd Lewis” in his books “On Being a Jew” and “The Kingly Sanctuary.”) This evening, he will read a long poem centered on the book of Kohelet, in which different verses (pesukim) from the biblical book are imaginatively examined and elaborated. Copies of his just published book, “The Assemblyman and Other Poems,” will be available for those who wish to follow along with a written copy of the poem.
Tuesday, October 13, 8:00 – 9:30pm
Tuition: $10. No charge for college students.
