Congregation Shaare Zedek

Congregation Shaare Zedek presents our second talk in the 2015 Shaare Zedek University speaker series, featuring members who are experts in their fields. On Saturday, March 14, we present Efrem Epstein, the founder of Elijah’s Journey (, a nonprofit organization dedicated to suicide awareness and prevention in the Jewish community, and recently named to The National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention’s “Faith Communities Task Force”. Efrem will use texts from the Tanach to explore ways that synagogues and other Jewish institutions can facilitate communication about and support of mental health issues in their communities.

Visitors are invited to join us for traditional, egalitarian Shabbat services at 9:30 AM, with children’s minyanim beginning at 11:00 AM. Kiddush lunch will be served shortly after services, and the talk will begin between 12:45 and 1:00 PM.
