Join Frank Ostaseski, the cofounder of the Zen Hospice project and author of a new book called The Five Invitations: Discovering What Death Can Teach Us About Living Fully, in conversation with beloved authors and teachers, Allan Lokos and Sharon Salzberg.

This intimate evening brings together 3 extraordinay teachers who embody both wisdom and compassion. This evening is co-sponsored by the Community Meditation Center of the upper west side and the “What Matters” program of JCC Manhattan.  It will be followed by a small reception and book signing. 

Frank Ostaseski is an internationally respected Buddhist teacher and visionary cofounder of the Zen Hospice Project, and founder of the Metta Institute. He has sat on the precipice of death with more than a thousand people and trained countless clinicians and caregivers in the art of mindful and compassionate care. He has lectured at Harvard Medical School, the Mayo Clinic, Wisdom.2.0 and teaches at major spiritual centers around the globe.He is the author of The Five Invitations: Discovering What Death Can Teach Us About Living Fully. 

Allan Lokos is the founder and guiding teacher of the Community Meditation Center of New York City. He is the author of several books, his most recent being Through the Flames: Overcoming Disaster through Compassion, Patience and Determination. Allan has practiced meditation since the mid-nineties and studied with world-renowned teachers such as Sharon Salzberg, Thich Nhat Hanh, Joseph Goldstein, Robert Thurman and Stephen Batchelor.

Sharon Salzberg is a meditation teacher and New York Times best-selling author. She is the co-founder of the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusetts, and has played a crucial role in bringing Asian meditation practices to the West. Sharon has been a student of meditation since 1971, guiding retreats worldwide since 1974. She is a frequent and beloved guest teacher at the JCC.
