After three months with it's contest winning name, the Kosher Village restaurant (formerly Chickpea) is no longer kosher, or at least is now open on shabbos. Oh, and has changed it's name again, to “Tahini”. Literally removing the kosher from the village.

The  Eater.com/Village Voice reports from owner Nissim Oron: “After three months I realized that this neighborhood is not the one for glatt kosher,” Oron said. “Only about 10 percent of our customers were coming in because it was glatt kosher. So I thought I'd go back to being just kosher, not glatt kosher, and so not to confuse anyone, we took 'kosher' out of the name.”

'Tahini” was also a submission to the name the kosher restauran contest.
