To the Tune of WALKING IN MEMPHIS by MARC COHN

“Learning in Israel”

Put on my black dress shoes and boarded the plane.
Touched down in the homeland of the Jews
and I don't want to leave again.
Ribono Shel Olam, will You look down over me.
I'm becoming a Baal Teshuva
but I'm as blue as a Jew can be.

Now I'm learning in Israel.
Studying Torah all 613.
Yeah, I'm learning in Israel
Want my teshuva to be complete.

I went down to the Kotel on a Friday afternoon.
I saw all types of Jews there
and I thought for me there was no room.
Then a man approached me and said
“What are you waiting for?”
He took me to the wall and I prayed like never before.

Now I'm learning in Israel.
Studying Torah all 613
Yeah, I'm learning in Israel
Want my teshuva to be complete.

They have herring on the table.
They have zemiros in the air.
And G-d will be glad to see you
and it doesn't matter where
But boy it matters in Israel

The Rebbe gives a shiur
on Shabbos in the Old City.
And they brought me down to see him
because I'm becoming a BT.
They said, “Give us a Dvar Torah.”
And I said it all with all my might
He said, “Boychick, are you a Yiddish child?”
And I said, “REBBE, I AM TONIGHT.”

Now I'm learning in Israel
Studying Torah all 613
Yeah I'm learning in Israel
Want my teshuva to be complete.

Put on my black dress shoes
And I boarded the plane.
Touched down in the homeland of the Jews
And I don't want to leave again.
Touched down in the homeland of the Jews
And I don't want to leave again.
