Make a difference in the lives of seniors while also caring for yourself. This program, a partnership between Engage and the Nia Technique, teaches you how full-body movement improves your own health and fitness and then trains you to share the knowledge with homebound seniors or residents of assisted-living facilities. The Nia Technique is an intelligent fitness practice that blends the movements of dance, martial arts, and healing arts. The moves are simple and adaptable to people of all ages, sizes, and abilities. Included is a free Nia class at the JCC every week and participation in the monthly Nia Jam. Engage will help find you a volunteer position in a senior facility and mentor you as you begin to teach.
