Ok just for 1 day a year. But steaks for the homeless! Avadim Hayinu…then we were free men!

Masbia soup kitchen on 14th Street in Borough Park serves kosher food to the homeless all year round, and can you imagine what they have on the menu: 16-ounce steaks! Sure they only do it once a year on the yartzheit of  Grand Rabbi Yeshaya Steiner of Kerestir, Hungary who was known for giving food the homeless, but for one day a year, homeless 'feel like a mensch, not a second class citizen' said one man in the NY Times article  For many homeless and hungry, what are you to do if you want to continue to keep kosher?  I guess beggars can't be choosers doesn't apply to this heavenly place, where beggars can choose to eat glatt kosher.

Check the NY Times today for yet another huge kiddush hashem for those who work there (Alexander Rapaport) at Masbia, truly satiating the soul of the needy.
