The WSJ weekend edition reported that Matisyahu’s new single YOUTH was the #1 download from iTunes last week…which is insane. Additionally the article noted that  500,000 “Live at Stubbs” albums have been sold so far – which is unheard of within the Jewish music world – and his new album is expected to crack into the Billboard 200 album chart.

The humorous part of this whole WSJ blurb was in its description of  how to pronounce Matisyahu’s name, writer Ethan Smith writes: “mah-TEES-yow” – haha – which was probably a misinterpretation of some Lubob’s Brooklyn accent, in its standard lightning fast yiddeshe slur form, spitting out: mah-TEES-yah-Hu.
