JTS debuts new learning curriculum: “Queer Eye for the Rabbi”:
The Jewish Theological Seminary introduced it's new cutting edge curriculum today called “Queer Eye for the Rabbi.” The courses are a set of intellectual classes intended to explore and understand the way rabbis can become “more fabulous” said JTS Dean, Daniel Nevins.

The classes, set to start in September,  will feature unique ways for rabbis to learn how to culturally transform themselves into more stylish and flamboyant people, a core value that Conservative Judaism has affectionately embraced.

“No one can deny a rabbi certainly needs a level of panache,” said Dean Nevins as he opened another button on his siesta shirt revealing a sparkling Chai amulet. “These courses will just make it easier for students to adapt to the modern times which we live in.”
Student will learn practical tips such as:

  • How to make a fun yet elegant breakfast spread for that one-of-a-kind Bris
  • Which scented candles work best for shabbat, chanukah and yahrzheits
  • How to create a relaxing mood in a room used for that anxious bar mitzvah boy in training
  • And how to mix a good kiddush Maschewitztini

At the end of course work, students will be required to redecorate, rewardrobe, and restyle an entire congregation. Professor and world renown designer Fay Gellah loves the new courses at JTS and says that this just validates the phrase she's been using for years, “Gay is the new Jewish.”
